One Love - Supporting Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa

Jamaica is one of our favorite destinations to book and travel to as travel agents. As more and more, devastating reports come from this beautiful island we know people will be looking to help. Here are several places you can consider donating:   

The Sandals Foundation- https://sandalsfoundation.org/ 

 Sandals Resorts is synonymous with Jamaica and their foundation is always striving to give back. Per their website” The Sandals Foundation is a non-profit organization launched in March 2009 to help Sandals Resorts International continue to make a difference in the Caribbean. All costs associated with administration and management is supported by Sandals Resorts International so that 100% of every dollar donated goes directly towards funding impactful and meaningful initiatives within the key areas of Education, Community and Environment.” They are currently diverting funds to help with Hurricane Melissa recovery.  

The GoldenEye Foundation- https://www.goldeneyefoundation.org/people 

 The very home that Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond series at is also a luxury resort that spearheads their own foundation to invest in the betterment of their historic community. Per their website “Our Foundation works towards improving the quality of life of the people within the Oracabessa community. Our goal is to help them thrive in a healthy environment and fulfil their potential - for the benefit of themselves, their families, and future generations.”

 This website brings funds directly to the government established Hurricane relief fund. Per the website “This website is established to mobilise support for Jamaica's emergency response, recovery efforts and provide the latest information related to Hurricane Melissa. We know from experience that preparation, rapid response, and sustained recovery efforts save lives and restore communities. Many areas, particularly along Jamaica's southern coast, are among the most vulnerable, having been impacted by a major Hurricane in 2024. This platform helps ensure assistance reaches those who need it, when they need it most.” 

Financial donations are not feasible for all people. So finally we recommend making sure you are regularly giving blood. Organizations such as the American Red Cross, are able to divert blood to places suffering from natural disasters.
