Exciting Transformation Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In 2026, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will unveil a brand new experience that will captivate both the young and young at heart. The current home of Star Wars: Launch Bay will be transformed into an imaginative world called “The Magic of Disney Animation.” This reimagined space will be crowned with Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat, just like the original in California, spreading magical pixie dust over guests and setting the tone for a playful, creative adventure.

Inside, visitors will step into a lively version of the Disney Animation headquarters, where favorite animated characters have taken over the studio departments, turning the space into a whimsical playground. Guests can watch portraits come to life, reminiscent of the beloved short film “Once Upon A Studio,” enjoy a charming short film with a twist, and even try their hand at drawing their own characters.

“The Magic of Disney Animation” will also feature “Drawn to Wonderland,” a vibrant indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art for “Alice in Wonderland.” Here, little ones can explore an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood area that encourages kids to let their imaginations run wild.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. The pixie dust from the Sorcerer’s Hat will extend beyond the building to transform the entire courtyard into “The Walt Disney Studios.” This area draws inspiration from several iconic buildings found on the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank. Among the highlights is a version of the Studio Theater, which will continue to host “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.” Nearby, a soundstage will introduce a fresh Disney Jr. show.

Visitors to the studio grounds and courtyard can also relax and recharge under lush trees, with plenty of spots to play and snack. Keep an eye out, as characters might be playing in the branches, soaking up the sun, or digging in the grass. Disney Animation artists and Disney Imagineers are collaborating closely to bring the magic and nostalgia of Disney Animation films to life throughout the courtyard in engaging and immersive ways families will love.

As preparations for this transformation get underway, Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close starting September 25, 2025. During this period, guests can still enjoy “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and the exhibits and film presentation at Walt Disney Presents.

This enchanting reimagining promises to be a highlight for families visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering new ways to create lasting memories together. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to step into “The Magic of Disney Animation” in 2026!
